When compared with the costs associated with the use of carbon steel, stainless steel can reduce total lifetime costs significantly.
Stainless UK are CARES approved for processing stainless steel reinforcing bars and hold large stocks of stainless steel rebar manufactured to BS 6744.
The two grades of stainless steel reinforcing bar held in stock are:
Grade 304 (1.4301) suitable for most atmospheric and concrete covered environments.
Grade 316 (1.4436) the recommended grade for marine and corrosive environments.
The strength physical characteristics for stainless steel rebar are Proof Strength - 500 N/mm², Ultimate Tensile Strength - 550 N/mm², Elongation - 14%
Standard stainless steel reinforcing bar (rebar) diameters range from 6mm to 40mm
Stock lengths vary from 6.0 to 6.4m and bars can be supplied cut to any length. Bars are available bent according to the shape codes given in BS 8666. Threaded ends with ISO metric threads to BS 3643, lengths up to 1000mm, can be supplied for fixing applications.
Grip-Rib has been developed as a high strength, high bond alternative to conventional reinforcement which is not always available at short notice. Manufactured from Stainless UK´s high tensile strength feed stock, Grip-Rib is available as high strength, 650N/mm2 or standard, 500N/mm2 in 304 or 316 grades and conforms to BS6744. Grip-Rib is particularly advantageous when used in the large diameters for capital projects. The cold-formed deformations provide a particularly consistent rib pattern which makes for easy three dimensional bending.
A full range of accessory products are available including square backing plates, nuts, washers, tying wire, end caps and de-bonding sleeves.
GRADES OF REBAR READILY AVAILABLE WITHIN BS 6744
Key:
- Appropriate choice for corrosion resistance and cost
- Over specification of corrosion resistance for the application
- May be suitable in some instances: specialist advice should be obtained
- Grades suitable for specialist applications which should only be specifiied after consultation with corrosion specialists
- Unsuitable for the application
