Stainless UK – Helping Secure the future for Withernsea Fishermen
Stainless UK have supplied over 1000 Grade 316 stainless steel bars to Hull based contractor PBS Construction for use on a new boat slipway being constructed in Withernsea, East Yorkshire as part of the major redevelopment of the towns commercial fishing compound.
The new slipway is the latest phase of the £1.6m project. Earlier this year work on the new compound buildings was completed with new chillers units, processing and storage facilities being built. The slipway is being constructed adjacent to the new compound and will provide direct access for the fishing vessels to the compound and avoid the boats having to go up the main beach. The finished project will provide greatly improved facilities for the local commercial fishing fleet and help sustain the industries future.
Two types of bar have been supplied by Stainless UK for use on the project. Firstly, over 500 cut to length pieces of fully threaded 24mm Grip Bar for use as tie bars to fix the new slipway to the existing promenade structure. In addition to the Grip Bar, Stainless UK have also supplied 20mm plain round cut to lengths for use as dowel bars to form movement joints between the cast concrete slabs which form the slipway.
